A team may consist of a maximum of 3 members. Students from different institutes can form a team together.
All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in Elixir at Techfest 2008.
Registrations for Elixir are closed.
Accomodation registrations for Elixir have ended.
First Round Submission:
All the entries for the first round should be submitted by November 1st at midnight IST. There for ten cash prizes for this incentivizing round. The following rules must be followed for doing so:
Please send your abstract either as a word or pdf (preferred) attachment. The name of your file should be: TITLE and TEAM ID. The team id is basically your team registration number. Send the email to the addresses acv.elixir@gmail.com and tilak@techfest.org. If you do not know what your team ID is, then please email to tilak@techfest.org.
Please cc ALL team members and people who have contributed to your proposal. This "cc" list can include professors IF THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED by way of mentorship and guidance. It is up to you to decide whether to include professors - especially if the research is theoretical and you are translating it into practice.
In your email, adhere STRICTLY to the following format
Subject: Elixir Round 1 SUBMISSION - <name of Team Leader/Person emailing> - <problem area: please identify "other" - do not just write 'other'> - <TEAM ID>.
Body of email:
You MUST explicitly call out ALL TEAM MEMBERS and provide the latest email and contact information. If you have more than 3 team members, that is ok, you must name them, CC-them on the email and provide their latest contact info phone/email/address.
For example: Team 1055 consists of the following members: x, y, z.
You must provide a 5-10 line "abstract" of your target population, problem area you are targeting and a 1-2 line description of each of your concepts.
Example 1: "We are developing a novel MEMS sensor to detect the concentration of albumin in the blood. This device will form part of a home-kit that will enable early detection of renal failure and potentially help over 30 million people in South India who are currently detected only in the end-stages of the disease. Furthermore, we have also identified a novel spectroscopy-based method to measure xyz, a new biomarker, that we believe can be a better surrogate of end stage renal disease"
Example 2: "We are developing a new image compression algorithm (ICOS) in order to enable fast transmission and manipulation of MRI/CT images. We expect this tool to enable better tele-consultation, surgical planning, patient management etc. at over 2000 radiology facilities across India." P.S: ICOS is a fake acronym; you may have some clever acronym for your system or device. Use it here and in the title - if you do.
NOTE: Registrations are open up-till 20th December. Teams that DO NOT enter in the first round(Nov 1) are STILL ELIGIBLE to enter the finals in January - except that they must register and write 2-page document that outlines the idea and the problem it solves. However it should be noted that they will not be eligible for first round prize money. This document MUST BE submitted prior to Dec 20th.
