Manual Robot

3.1 Dimensions and Fabrications

  1. Base of the machine must not be greater than 0.30 m x 0.30 m (Length x Breadth) and its height should be less than 0.80 m at the start of the game. Boundary of the Base is defined by the points on the machine touching the ground in the horizontal position. No human interference with the machine is allowed after the dimension test.

  2. The external wired/wireless remote control used to control the machine manually is not included in this size constraint.

  3. If the machine uses an externally placed power supply, the dimensions of the power supply are not included in the size constraint.

  4. During the game, the machine can expand or detach itself into multiple parts provided it does not damage the arena in any way. The judges hold the right to subjectively determine if the machine violates this clause.

  5. Machines cannot be constructed using readymade Lego kits or any readymade mechanism but use of readymade gear assemblies is allowed. Violating this clause will lead to disqualification of the machines. Judges hold the right to subjectively evaluate this clause.

3.2 Power Supply and Propulsion

  1. The machine can use an externally placed or on-board electric or non-electric power supply. Use of compressors is not allowed. However the power supply must be non-polluting and must satisfy the safety constraints determined by the judges. In case the machine is using a non-electric power supply, kindly get it approved from the organizers beforehand via email. Organizers are not responsible for inconvenience if approval is not sought.

  2. The method of propulsion is at the discretion of the builder, provided it does not damage the arena in any way and it satisfies the safety constraints determined by the judges. The machine cannot use any mechanism which directly transmits the manual force to the machine. For example use of clutch wires is not permitted. The judges hold the right to subjectively determine if the machine violates this.

  3. In case of an electric power supply, the voltage at any point on the machine must be lower than or equal to 24V at any point of time during the game.

  4. The organizers will provide a standard 230V/50 Hz AC power supply. Any extension cords, eliminators, adaptors etc. required will have to be arranged by the participants themselves.

3.3 Controls

  1. The machine has to be necessarily controlled by some wired/wireless remote control mechanism at all stages of the game.

  2. In case of wireless mechanism, the machine must have two remote control circuits (or a dual frequency remote control circuit) which can be switched to either frequency before the start of the game. This is done to avoid frequency interference between the two competing machines in the final round of the game.

  3. In case of wired mechanism, the wire must be slack at any point of time during the game. The total length of wire extending from the remote control to the machine must be minimum 3 meters.

Autonomous Robot

3.4 Dimensions and Fabrications

  1. The machine must fit within a box of dimensions 0.20 m x 0.20 m x 0.20 m (Length x Breadth x Height) at the beginning of the game. At T=0 i.e. at the start of the match, the autonomous machine must start from the starting zone corresponding to Zone 1(which is 0.20 m x 0.20). Refer to Figure. 2 for more clarifications on the starting zone.

  2. Use of computers for controlling the machine is not allowed. The machine should be completely autonomous, self contained and should not communicate with an external agency in any way.

  3. The autonomous machine is not allowed to dismember itself or leave parts on any part of the arena. The decision in such cases will be taken by the judges.

  4. Autonomous Machine cannot be constructed using ready made ready made micro controller development boards . Violating this clause will lead to disqualification of the machines. Judges hold the right to subjectively evaluate this clause.

3.5 Power Supply and Propulsion

  1. The machine must use power converted from a source of electrical energy. Commercial batteries like dry cells and lead acid cells are permitted. Chemicals, compressed gas and rockets, fuels, combustion power methods are strictly prohibited.

  2. The machine must have an onboard source of power. External source of power is not allowed. The voltage at any point on the machine must be lower than or equal to 12V at any point of time during the game.
