A glider is defined as an object that has exactly 3 forces of flight, namely lift, drag and weight (gravity).
Note: Parachutes do not qualify for glider since they do no have lift. Also aircrafts lighter than air are not considered as glider and hence will not be allowed.
There are no restrictions on size of the glider. Though it is recommended to have a wingspan of not more than 1.5 meters.
The participants are free to use any materials of their choice. However the use of Balsa wood or Foam (sun board) or sun pack is advised. Balsa wood is light and easy to handle and fabricate, hence is a good choice.
Glider should not contain any kind of mechanism which provides thrust once it is launched into the air.
There are no restrictions on the number of motors/actuators used until and unless they are not providing any kind of thrust to the glider.
Glider should have on board power packs for controlling actuators. No external power supply to the glider will be allowed.
Glider has to be launched by participants themselves. Only manual launch (hand launch) of the glider is allowed. Use of launching mechanism is prohibited.
The participants must make all parts of the gliders themselves. No readymade gliders/assembly kits are allowed. However use of readymade actuators/motors, remote controls is allowed.
