4.1 Competitions Rules

  1. The game will be played as a point based qualifier with one machine playing on the board at a time

  2. The goal of the game is to put all the blocks behind the clearance line (as shown in figure 2 and 4) on the top of the platform as early as possible. The time duration of one match will be 3 minutes. Two runs of 3 minutes each will be given per team and best of two will be taken for point calculations.

  3. At the beginning of the game, the team will have to place their machine in the Start Zone marked red in Zone A. Four wooden blocks will be placed randomly in Zone A.

  4. Point System: At the end of the stipulated time the points will be calculated using the following formula:

    Points = (No. of blocks placed behind the clearance line in Zone B x 10) + Time Remaining (in seconds).

  5. The machines should not leave its arena at any point of time during the game. No part of the machine should touch anything outside the arena during the course of the game.

  6. The participants are not allowed to enter the arena at any point of time during the game.


  7. The machine cannot cause any damage to the block or any part of the arena during the course of the game (mechanisms using sharp objects to lift the block are not allowed). If found doing so it will lead to disqualification of the team. Judges hold the right to subjectively evaluate this clause.


4.2 General Rules

  1. Machine Fabrication: It is highly important in building robotic machines that you ensure proper fabrication.

  2. The teams must adhere to the spirit of healthy competition. The teams must not damage the opponent's machine in any way. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any team indulging in misbehavior.

  3. Any team that is not ready at the time specified will be scratched from the competition automatically.

  4. The machine would be checked for its safety before the race and would be discarded if found unsafe for other participants and spectators.

  5. The name of your machine must be prominently displayed on the machine.

  6. Judges decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.

  7. The organizers reserve all rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any will be highlighted on the website.


4.3 Team Specifications

A team must consist of 4 or less participants. Participants from different institutions can form a team.


4.4 Eligibility

All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in Vetrigo: Nexus round at Techfest 2008.


4.5 Certificate Policy

All the participants of a team whose machine is able to lift a block completely from the ground, will receive a certificate of participation.
