Introduction

“There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children."

Nelson Mandela

We’re all well aware of the fact that a prodigious percentage of Indian children are deprived of the basic necessities of life while higher education is still only a dream in the minds of many. Often, these children are not assured of one square meal even when they get back home after a long day of work. All these problems for money, a resource so casually wasted on a daily basis in the busy streets of metropolitan cities.

Most philanthropists willing and able to help out the weaker sections of society don’t have the time to make sure that their hard-earned money reaches the desired recipient. Meanwhile, volunteers in NGOs have a tough time procuring enough funds to stay afloat. To bridge this gap, Techfest in association with Pratham Council for Vulnerable Children, (PCVC) a pilot program of Pratham introduces the Give-A-Coin initiative to promote Financial Child Adoption.

Financial child adoption

Our society has gone too long with too large a gap between the rich and the poor, but a change is coming. Rightly said by Father of India, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

"Be the change that you want to see in the world."

Financial adoption of a child is a way for potential donors to take up a child under their wings, without the added emotional stress and time consumption that usually accompanies adoption. In this process, donors provide funds for the education, shelter, nutrition and medical care of incarcerate souls, while the NGO handles their allocation, constantly giving a blow-by-blow account of the expenditure to the donors and can also arrange the personal meetings of the donor and the child.

Please go through the following presentation to get more insight about the theme.
