Introduction
“Perfection is our goal, excellence will be tolerated."The legendary lines aptly describe the human desire to achieve perfection. We made you go around in tricky loops last year at breakneck speeds and you loved it. This year, get ready for the ride of a lifetime.
The competition is all about perfection and efficiency. Follow the wall as fast as possible, tackle the obstacles and survive the track. All this with the the clock ticking. One of the most participated in competitions of Techfest, Wall-E is wide open this year for all challengers.
Task
Teams must build a wall following bot that navigates the arena in minimum possible time by avoiding various obstacles.Cash prizes worth INR 20,000 to be won.

Arena
- The arena consists of a 10 cm high wall. The wall will be white in colour.
- The track may contain the following elements:
- a) Straight Stretches
- b) Radial Turns
- The track may contain the following obstacles:
- a) Missing wall of 5 cm length (refer figure 2)
- b) 90 degree turns
- c) Cube of side 10 cm placed in the path(refer figure 1) – The cube will be white in colour. It will be made of non-magnetic material and will have a maximum weight of 60 gms.
- The occurance of any obstacle will be indicated by a white line just before the obstacle.The thickness of the line will be 5 cm. The line will be perpendicular to the wall(refer fig 1, 2 and 3)
- Checkline(not shown in figure) – The base of the arena will consist of an indication line drawn at a distance of 50 cm from every point of the track wall.

Setup
- The entire arena will be setup outdoors in ambient lighting conditions.
- A small portion of the actual arena will be provided to the participants for calibration.
- If possible time slots prior to the day of competition, may be given to the participants to calibrate their machines to the available light conditions in the arena subject to availability of the venue.
Bot Specifications
- Each team is allowed to have only one bot.
- The bot must fit into a cube of dimensions 200 mm x 200 mm x 200 mm(lxbxh).
- The bot must use only on-board power supply. No external off-board power supply is allowed.
- The max voltage difference between any two points must not exceed 24V.
- The bot must be fully autonomous with all powering and motoring mechanisms self contained.
- Human operators are not permitted to enter any information into the bot during the event. The bot must not communicate with any wireless device also.
- The bot must be started by only one switch. However, a team can have a separate switch for restart.
- The bot cannot be constructed using ready made Lego kits or any ready made mechanism. But you can make use of ready made gear assemblies. Violating this clause will lead to the disqualification of the machine.
Gameplay
Pre-Game Setup
Each team will be allowed a slot of 5 mins to calibrate their machines on a test track. Just before the run, teams will get a chance to test their machines in the same lighting conditions at a smaller test track besides the main track.Game Procedure
There will be 2 rounds. A qualifying round and a final round.Qualifying Round
- One run will be given to each team.
- The maximum time taken to complete the task is 5 minutes.
- The time taken to complete the task will be noted. If at the end of 5 minutes, the bot is not able to complete the task, then the team will be disqualified.
- Top 32 teams emerging from this round will qualify for the final round.
Final Round
- The top 32 teams selected from the qualifying round will compete in this round. It will be a knockout match.
- Two teams will compete at a time in this round on different arenas of same orientation(same track and same position of obstacles). The team that completes the task first will be declared as the winner.
- The top three teams emerging from this round will be declared as winners.
Rules
- At the start of the run, the teams will have to keep the bot in the starting position.
- A maximum of 3 restarts will be given to the teams. Everytime a team opts for a restart, the bot will be restarted by placing the bot back to the starting position.
- If during a run, the cube (obstacle) gets displaced from its original position, then the team will have to restart their bot by placing it back into the starting zone.
- At no point of time, any part of the bot is allowed to cross the checkline. If the bot crosses the checkline, the team will have to restart the bot by placing it back in the starting zone.

Where, T = Time taken to complete the task
Disqualification
- Any bot not conforming to the specifications provided will be instantly disqualified.
- Any bot which damages the arena will be disqualified.
Team Specification
A team may consist of a maximum of 3 members. Students from different educational institutes can form a team.Eligibility
All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in Wall-E.Certificate Policy
Certificate of Excellence will be awarded to the top 3 teams. Certificate of Participation will be given to the top 32 teams.Disqualified teams will not be considered for any certificates.

- Even if you are not provided with the accommodation, you are still eligible to participate in the competition.
- It is not necessary that all the members of one team are provided with accommodation.
