Introduction

The WAVE-India was born with the mission of spreading awareness about electric vehicles in Indian metros. It is a matter of disgrace that in spite of being a technological powerhouse, India ranks 123rd in the World in the Pollution Control statistics. The booming automobile industry is one of the largest contributors to the increasing air pollution in India. It is in this scenario that electric vehicles are arriving on the scene to rescue the situation.

The WAVE is a road-trip of electric vehicles, covering over 2500 Kilometers through southern India. The cars taking part in the WAVE are, the Twike, the Twingo, two Th!nk City vehicles and the Mahindra Reva. They will begin their journey at Mumbai and stop at major Indian cities like Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and also Goa. They will visit schools, colleges, malls, and places of importance along the way. Interactive sessions and exhibitions would be conducted at the venue covering a host of topics like the various benefits of electric cars over IC-Engine cars and the future of green technology in the automobile industry.

The WAVE will tell the world that it is possible to cover 2500 Kilometers of Indian countryside roads within 15 days, no small feat for even the so-called heavy duty conventional cars. That the small electric cars can surpass every hurdle they face along the way and end up safe and sound, though they may take a battering on the route. If the small-cars can achieve this feat, they are certainly a match for the traditional cars travelling on Indian roads.

The WAVE is more than just a road-trip. It is a journey touching hearts, minds and people wherever it goes. It is an experience that will change the way people live, their perception of sustainability and will definitely push them to work for the environment by adopting such initiatives. There is always an option to live the better way and You are the one who makes that decision. So, come on, join us in our journey for a greener tomorrow !

The Cars

The cars participating in the WAVE are battery electric vehicles (run only on electric power) called the TWIKE, two Th!nk City electric cars, the Twingo and our very own Mahindra Reva. The Twike, two Th!nks and Twingo are all highly popular commercially produced electric cars in Europe. That the cars, accustomed to the smoothness of Swiss roads, will perform superbly on the notorious Indian roads is a further testament to their hardiness. Each charge of about 6 hours ensures that the cars run for about 200 kilometers.

The Twike

The Twike is tomorrow’s mobility for today’s people. The first TWIKEs were rolled out 15 years ago. Today there are over 900 TWIKEs on the road, which have together amassed over 30,000,000 km of experience. The TWIKE, a human powered hybrid, has been kept up to date and is now fitted with lithium batteries, making it the ideal mode of transport for your daily travels. The TWIKE is efficient, environmentally friendly, attractive and sporty.
Max Speed : 90 Kmph
Range : 145 km

The Twingo

It’s the all-electric supermini that’s set to change the way we own and drive our cars. This is Renault’s four-seat green machine, the Twingo. On the road, this car will definitely prove to be one of the hardiest vehicles. With its strong chassis and steel body, it is much less vulnerable to the jerks of the Indian roads. This four-seater might even take hitch-hikers along the way ! If you're lucky, you may just get a chance to ride the Twingo!

Max speed : 120 Kmph
Range : 140 km

The Th!nk City

The Th!nk is a concept car that makes you do just what it says - think. About the potential that an electric vehicle has to cut down air pollution. The Th!nk, City, exhibited for the first time in the UK in 2008, is a small, unassuming car from the future that still speaks so much about and does yet more. On its mission in India the Th!nk is bound to raise eyebrows for its sheer compactness and cutting-edge technology put to good use.
Max speed : 120 Kmph
Range : 160 km

The Reva

In a world full of smoke and noise, the silent, petrol-free REVA is like a whiff of fresh air. It's the coolest way to commute around the city and protect the environment at the same time. Not only is the REVA compact and easy to manoeuvre, it also makes the world a better place for you and your family.

Max speed : 105 Kmph
Range : 220 km
